      Diversion Programs

If you are a first time offender and under the age of 24, you may be eligible for application to the deferred prosecution program . Currently, a requirement for defendants with pending drug cases is that you submit two clean drug tests results. One clean drug test result is due with your application to the DPP program, and an additional clean result is due the day of your interview.

      Attorney Recommendation

If your attorney is seeking to work out a favorable plea bargain in your case or is preparing you for trial, you may be asked to provide one or several clean drug test results. If you are asked to provide multiple results, it is standard that these results are dated one month apart. Your ability to provide clean specimens over time shows that your pending case has caught your attention, and you are ready to abstain from illegal drug use in the future.

In either instance, if you have been asked to take a drug test, you may be wondering where to get one, how much they cost, and how you receive the results. Below you find answers to common questions related to court ordered drug testing.

What Kind of Drug Test Do I Need?

You must go to a professional laboratory to have your drug test administered. Home tests which can be purchased at drug stores, grocery stores, or online are not acceptable. Commercial labs are accustomed to administering 5 panel urine tests, but your attorney may ask you to take a different test under certain circumstances. This type of test will indicate the recent use of five types of drugs: marijuana (THC), cocaine, amphetamines, methamphetamines and opiates.

How Much Does a Drug Test Cost?

You can expect to pay around $50 for a basic drug test.

How Do I Get My Results?

Many labs which administer large quantities of drug tests have the ability to provide results the same day or within a business day. Other labs require 3-5 business days to process your test. Make sure to contact the lab you intend to use in advance if you will need same day results. Ask for your lab test results to be faxed to your attorney as well. Our fax number is (817) 203-2220.
